[ARCHIVED] For Immediate Release: Bobcat Information

On Friday, December 7th, a citizen who resides in the 6100 block of N. Lake Drive Ct. captured several photos of a large wild cat in her backyard. After contacting Dianne Robinson, the area Wildlife Biologist for the Wisconsin DNR, the Village was able to confirm that what the resident saw appears to be a Bobcat.

The Wisconsin DNR reiterated that adults and children are not at risk, but that pets should not be left unattended. Bobcats are very reclusive and very wary of humans and will actively avoid them. Bobcats behave in much the same manner as coyotes and will usually run away in response to noise. Bobcats tend to weigh between 20 and 40 pounds.

If you see a Bobcat, please call the Police Department non-emergency number at 414-351-9900. You may also go to the Wisconsin DNR website and submit a large mammal observation form at this address: https://dnr.wi.gov/topic/wildlifehabitat/mammalobsform.asp
