[ARCHIVED] Citizen Volunteers Needed

The Village of Whitefish Bay is accepting applications from citizens who are interested in volunteering to serve on various boards, committees and commissions. The following openings are available:
  • Board of Appeals (Alternate Member): The Board of Appeals reviews requests for Zoning Code variances (including fence heights and setback issues) in addition to appeals of administrative decisions made by Village officials. The Board of Appeals meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:15 p.m.  
  • Board of Review (Alternate Member): The Board of Review is a quasi-judicial body that hears formal objections to property assessments. It is a fundamental part the objection process designed so that property owners may express their concerns about the value of their property. The Board meets on an annual basis during the 45-day period beginning the fourth Monday in April and also meets as needed in late summer or early fall.
  • Community Development Authority (Alternate Member): The Community Development Authority (also known as the CDA) provides direction regarding Village redevelopment, tax incremental financing, and business incentive grants/requests. The CDA meets on an as-needed basis.
  • Historic Preservation Commission: (Two Members): The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with the responsibility of assisting in the preservation of the Village’s historic and cultural heritage by identifying buildings, sites, and objects which reflect elements of Whitefish Bay’s cultural, social, economic, political or architectural history. The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
  • Public Works Committee (Citizen Member): The Public Works Committee provides recommendations to the Village Board and Public Works Department with regards to parks, public rights-of-way, parkway trees, refuse and recycling collection, snow and ice control, streets and sidewalks, and the sanitary/storm sewer system. The committee consists of three members of the Village Board along with a citizen at large. The Committee typically meets monthly at an agreed upon time
