FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Whitefish Bay, Wis., - The Village of Whitefish Bay will host a rededication ceremony for the newly refurbished drinking fountain donated by longtime crossing guard, Danny McCue. Originally placed in May 1990, the fountain has been restored just south of its original location at the Cumberland School corner of North Marlborough Drive and East Hampton Road. The public ceremony will take place at the fountain on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 12:30pm. Danny’s mother, Ms. Jeanne McCue will speak on behalf of her son, Daniel, who designated the gift to the community shortly before his accidental death at the age of 27 in a bicycle accident. Ms. McCue has been instrumental since its designation in providing support for the fountain. Village leadership will acknowledge the generous donations of equipment and labor by Advance Construction, Badger Underground, and Forward Contractors toward the fountain restoration effort.
Danny’s Fountain, which is dedicated to the children of Cumberland and Holy Family Schools, bears the inscription he requested: All Children Smile in the Same Language. His mother, Jeanne McCue, said about her son’s thoughtfulness, “My hope is that people who come to drink from the fountain will be inspired to do things like Danny did.” She added, “It can be something so simple, like giving a cup of water.”
